LUXURUSS Meteorite Tourbillon.
A billion-year-old dial and a glowing tourbillon: Russian watchmaking breaks the rules.
The watch you open with a hammer: Inside the LUXURUSS Meteorite Tourbillon.
The LUXURUSS Meteorite Tourbillon is a Russian-made mechanical timepiece featuring a tourbillon. It is positioned not merely as a device for measuring time, but as a collectible art object—an exclusive product that marries materials of cosmic origin with complex micromechanics. The model was recently unveiled at the International Watch Exhibition in Moscow, Russia.
The concept behind the LUXURUSS Meteorite is rooted in the union of eternal matter (meteorite) and an eternal emotion (love), as reflected in the brand’s slogan: "We change. The world changes. Only love is eternal. LUXURUSS is love."
• Creating this timepiece required solving a complex engineering challenge: integrating a dedicated light source into a classic movement featuring an exposed tourbillon. The developers successfully incorporated an LED that illuminates the tourbillon cage without interfering with the watch's timekeeping. The light can be activated at the owner’s discretion, offering a glimpse into the heart of the movement. The tourbillon housing itself features a light-reflective coating that continues to emit a mysterious, greenish glow even after the LED is turned off—evoking the ethereal radiance of the cosmos.
• Unique vacuum packaging. Rather than being housed in a standard box, the watch is sealed within an airtight, vacuum-evacuated quartz glass capsule. This protects the movement from moisture, degradation, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Opening the capsule is a deliberate ritual: the set includes a branded mallet and nitrile gloves, and the capsule—designed with specific scoring—is intended to be opened only once, permanently.
• Symbolism and philosophy. The registered symbol on the winding crown is intentionally oriented in the opposite direction to the conventional, expected alignment. The creators envisioned the traditional yin-yang symbol as a representation of time as experienced by Earth—through the alternation of day and night—while its inverse represents time as experienced by a meteorite traveling through the cold void of space, where no such cycle exists.
• Meteorite dial featuring a Widmanstätten pattern. The design centers on a slice of meteorite that formed within the core of a long-destroyed planet billions of years ago. This distinctive geometric pattern—known as Widmanstätten figures—emerges only when metal cools in space at a rate of approximately one degree per million years. Such a structure cannot be forged or replicated under terrestrial conditions.
• Technical specifications. The timepiece is powered by a manually wound movement with a 40-hour power reserve. It features a 42mm stainless steel case, titanium hands (the hour hand is curved to evoke the spiral trajectory of a falling meteorite), and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
• Extreme exclusivity. The inaugural collection is limited to just 10 pieces, placing this model firmly in the category of ultra-rare collectibles.
The brand’s marketing concept is built on the idea that the owner holds an artifact that drifted through the void for far longer than life has existed on Earth.
